We received over 900 applications last year for the Class of 2015.

Thank you for your interest in Alcott High School for the Humanities.
Our story begins in 2008 with solid leadership from principal David Domovic, steadfast involvement from Alcott Elementary School parents and unyielding support from now United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

AHSH is located in the West Lakeview/Roscoe Village neighborhoods and is part of a highly regarded pre-kindergarten through cschool in the City of Chicago.  AHSH opened its doors to 83 freshmen on September 8, 2009.  Since then, we have welcomed two more classes of young learners.  Today, Alcott High School for the Humanities is one of Chicago's finest small school options and home to 240 fantastic freshmen, sophomores and juniors who are "learning how to learn" on a daily basis.
Campus Hours
Our campus is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.   Students, parents and visitors should use the south entrance doors (near the playground and parking lot).

Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. daily for all students.

Blank Canvas Project Underway
The Blank Canvas Project--a community-wide art installation project and fundraiser--is underway at Alcott High School.  Want to join in?  It's simple:

*  Purchase a 6"x6" canvas from the main office
  for $20.
*  Decorate the canvas in any way you wish.
*  Return the canvas to the main office to be
included in the permanent installation in the
  main hallway!

That's it!

Our goal is to sell 300 canvases and raise much needed funds for arts integration on campus.  Not an artist?  Not a problem.  Anyone can create a 6"x6" piece of artwork for an overall mosaic to be seen by students, parents and visitors for years to come.

Questions?  Contact the main office at 773.534.5970 or download the flyer HERE.

AHSH Is AVID Certified
Alcott High School for the Humanities is AVID Certified.    AVID is schoolwide; that means all of our students in grades 9-11 are required to take the AVID elective.

According to the AVID website, "The AVID Certification program documents and recognizes schools that have fully and successfully implemented the AVID model and serves as a continuous improvement process. The AVID Certification process includes a school site self-study followed by a site visit by the District Director. Schools incorporate the findings of their self-study and certification site visit in their ongoing site development plan."
